Vicki Adams
Hi there at Into the Outhaus,
This is Vicki Adams getting in touch from Outdoors People for Climate Action. I think that Into the Outhaus’s work to connect outdoor professionals is wonderful and is much needed in our outdoor community.
I was getting in touch today to see if Outdoors People for Climate Action could collaborate with Into the Outhaus to maybe be a part of one of your discussions.
A bit about us – Outdoors People for Climate Action is an Australia wide group for outdoor enthusiasts and outdoor workers that was started in March 2020. As a volunteer team, we’re working to inform outdoors people about the climate and ecological crisis, the solutions and how it affects the outdoors and we’re working to empower our community to take climate action (for example divesting, lifestyle changes, attending events and actions, getting politically engaged, etc). The group also allows us to build community around this issue and in the future to represent our community’s concerns. You can learn more about us here: https://www.outdoorspeople.org/
Personally, I’ve trained in outdoor recreation and have worked as an outdoor educator and coordinator and as a bushwalking guide.
For Outdoors People for Climate Action, on Oct 30 I gave a presentation at QORF’s coffee and conversation and I’ve also presented at the last online Victorian Backcountry Festival.
I haven’t been able to attend the Outhaus personally yet (although my partner has), so I’m not across what all of your session look like, but if you were interested I would be happy to give a short presentation or be a part of a wider discussion etc.
Thanks for your great work in this area.
Kind regards,
Vicki
